(Received April 2, at 10.30 a.m.) Officials are convinced that the mystery surrounding the .sensational escape of the notorious convict, Broderick Clarke, from Geelong Gaol in 18S9, has been solved. While prisoners were clearing the prison ground they discovered a largo brass key, which proved to bo a master key for every lock in the gaol at (he time of Ciarke’s escape. Clarke was transported to Van Diemen's Laud in 1847. Jlo died at Geelong at tho age of fifty-seven, Ho had a record of sentences totalling eighty-seven years for various crimes.
