The following items are by telegraph or cable :—■ At Christchurch, on Saturday night. Flynn, of Auckland, defeated Gum), of Timarn, for the feather-weight boxing championship of New Zealand and a purse of £125. Flynn held the advantage up
to the ninth round, and sent his opponent to the boards several times before the referee stopped the fight. The amateur bouts resulted:—Thompson (Christchurch) defeated Kelson (Grey mouth), PengcUy beat N. Moulin v Howell beat Ennis. Mr Lucas states that Lloyd is willing to accept Nilles’s challenge to box at Paris. At the Sydney Stadium on Saturday Mendies knocked out Les Waters in the fifteenth round, the winner securing a convincing victory. Waters was badly vised up, and required medical treatment. At Melbourne on Saturday Grime knocked out George Storey in the third round.
At Pinohnrst (United States of America) Hagen won the Xorth-Sonth golf tournament with a score of 289. . Kirkwood was seventh with 301, finishing the two last eighteen holes with 76 each. Norman Batchelor (Christchurch) lowered the Mow Zealand record for the 100 metres by 4sce at the swimming carnival' at Napier on Saturdav, his time bcine 70so e The two days’ cricket match, Taranaki v. Wellington, concluded on Saturday, and resulted in a draw. Wellington in the first innings mafic 160, and in the second innings they readied the total of 255 for nine wickets, when the innings was declared closed. Taranaki in the first innings made 255, and in (heir second innings scored 102 for five wickets. Lambert, of Taranaki, made 108 rims, and Dempster, for Wellington, made 146. The Christchurch and Wellington-Rugby ('lnk's met on Saturdav. Christchurch winning hv 11 points to 6.
At Timani on Saturday Christchurch Did Roys opposed Timarn Old Boys at Rugby, and a hard and fast game resulted in a win for Timarn hv 17 to 5.
Otago Old Roys plaved Timani Watcrddera at Soccer on Saturday at Timarn, and il good game insulted in a win for Otago by 5 goals ft) 2. The game was fast and even for three parts of the time, after which the superior staying powers of the visitors was the deciding factor. Onr •Christchurch correspondent triegraph?
