A. telegram from Cincina-tii stales that, following conferences with the Executive Board ,of tho Brewery Workers’ International Union, Mr Gompers announced that Labor will start a concerted drive for n modification of tho Prohibition la.w and a return to wino and beer of a light alcoholic content. Ho declared that this would promote temperance, and would provide an. antidote to -strong drink. A Jersey City message says that three men dropped dead before a bar a moment after taking a drink of bad liquor. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
