(8.5 a.m.), 12,352 tons, Hickson, from London and Southampton via Panama, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Waipori, s.s. (9.10 a.m.), 1,976 tons, Reed, from Westport via Bluff. Tho Federal liner Kent is to leave Port OaMmcra at 6 a.m. to-morrow for Wellington, Opua, and Auckland to complete her loading for tho United Kingdom. . The Sliaw, Savill, and Albion liner Maimoa will probably leave Dunedin to-mor-row for Bluff and northern ports to complete her loading for London. Tho 'Waipori arrived at Dunedin at 9 а. to-day from Westport via Bluff, and was berthed at the Birch street wharf to discharge the balance of her coal cargo. She is to sail on Thursday next for Greymouth. The Whaugnpe is duo at Dunedin on Sunday from Sydney via Wellington) and Lyttelton. She will sail about January 4 for Bluff, Sydney, and Newcastle. Tho Kaituna is duo here on Sunday from Auckland via Wellington and Lyttelton. Sho wall sail about January 4 for Bluff to complete discharge. From Bluff the Kaituna will proceed to Newcastle. The Kahika is duo at Dunedin on January 6 from AA r ellington and Bluff. Sho is listed to sail tho same day for New Plymouth and Nelson via ports. The AVingatui is to leave Auckland to-morrow for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due hero about January б, and will sail about January 8 for east coast polls and Auckland. Tho "Waitcmata is duo at Auckland early in January from Calcutta. Sho will later visit, Wellington,, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff to complete discharge. Tho vessel should arrive hoie about January 17. Tho Koromiko sailed from Port Chalmers last, evening for Newcastle, where sho will load for Picton, Wellington, and Napier. Tho A. and A. Lino steamer Citv of Newcastle is to leave Wellington on Tuesday next, for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Melbourne, and Sydney to discharge the remainder of her cargo from New York. She is due here on January 4. Tho Union liner Manuka is to leave Sydney to-day for Wellington, where she is duo on Tuesday. The vessel is timed (o sail on tho return voyage on Friday, January 6. Tho local agents for tho C. and D. Lino advise, that a steamer has been fixed to load at London early in March for Auckland, Wellington, and Bluff. She is expected to leave the Homo port on March 28. Tho Federal liner Suffolk sailed from Wellington on Tuesday morning for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland to complete her cargo. She should leave Auckland on January 6 for Boston, Avonmouth, Liverpool, Man Chester, and Glasgow. The Waikouaiti is to sail from Lyttelton on January 4 for Sydney direct. The Kaimanawa is to he despatched from Lyttelton on January 5 for AVestport. and the Kamo is to sail on January 4 for Creymouth. The Tredenham is due at Auckland today from New A'ork, and at AArellington on'January 3. She will subsequently proceed to Tima.ru, Dunedin, and Bluff. The Ruapehu is expected at Wellington on January 10 from Southampton. Lyttelton and Port Chalmers are her next ports of rail. The Otarama. from Liverpool, is due nt Auckland on December 31. and at Wellington on January 8. Sho will inter call at Lyttelton and Dunedin. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Maori arrived at Lyttelton at _ 7 a.m. to-day from Wellington, and mails and passengers connected with the firstexpress for the south. ' STEAMER GALE REPORTED. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co, have received cable advice that the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company’s new steamer Gale arrived at Panama on December 20 from London and Cardiff, and sailed two days'later for Lyttelton direct. Tho Gala is making a very smart trip, _and_ as averaging 200 miles per day, which is exceptionally good steaming for a vessel of her size. The vessel is of the same type, but a trifle larger, than- the Breeze. Due at Lyttelton about January 23, she will immediately enter the Dunedin-'Wanganui id a ports trade, and will prove a valuable addition to the Canterbury Company’s fleet. VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL. ARRIVAL OF THE lONIC. The Sliaw, Savill, and Albion liner lonic, from Ixnvdon and Southampton, via AVellington and Lyttelton, entered the Heads at 7 a.m. to-day, and was berthed at Port Chalmers about an hour later to load New Zealand products for tho United Kingdom. The lonic loft Southampton on November 2, and experienced fine weather throughout the voyage to AVellington. She brought a total of 640 passengers. Captain V. W r . Hickson is now master of the lonic, and his officers are Chre-f, Mr C. IT. Bate; first. Mr A. Pawley; second, Mr E. K. Irving; third, Dir J. H. Walker; fourth, Mr C. F. Graham; fifth, Mr G. W. TRANSPACIFIC CARGO SERVICE. The Union Company announces tho following movements of vessels engaged in the transpacific cargo service ; From Pacific Coast porta via New Zealand ports and Melbourne, the Hauraki sailed from Adelaide on December 21 for Sydney to complete discharge of inward cargo, after which she is to proceed to Pacific Coast to take tho February loading for New Zealand and Australian ports. The AVaihemo was expected to leave Newcastle on December 23 for Honolulu and Vancouver. She ■will take the late January southward loading. The AVaiotapu, from Pacific Coast ports via New Zealand ports, was expected to leave Melbourne on December 23 for Aclelaido and Sydney to complete discharge. Tho Wairuna, from Pacific Coast ports, sailed from San Francisco on December 17 for Auckland, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney. She is duo at Auckland about January 11. From Pacific Coast ports thoWaimarino sailed from San Francisco on December 23 for Napier, Wellington, Now Plymouth, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Sydney. The Waikawa, from Sydney, is due at Vancouver about January 5. Sho will load at Pacific Coast ports during January for Wellington, Sydney, and Melbourne. MEW STEAMER PORT HUNTER. Tho new Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Hunter, 8,423 tons, Captain S. C. Cottell, arrived at Auckland on Monday last from Newcastle, on route on lier maiden voyage from London and Australia. Sho is an empty chip, and comes to New Zealand to commence loading for tho United Kingdom. She brought a cargo from London to Melbourne and Sydney, where it was discharged. She then coaled at Newcastle, and sailed on December 20 for Auckland. A south-west gale was encountered several days’ sail off the New Zealand coast, and on Sunday tiro seas were high. The Port Hunter will complete loading at Gisborne, Tokomarn Bay, Wanganui, and Australian ports. Tho Port Hunter was built by Hawthorn, Leslie, and Co., at Hebbcrn-on-Tyne, and was launched last February. She is a twin-screw vessel with six geared turbines, capable of a speed of about fourteen knots. On the Voyage from London she averaged 12) knots, the engines running easily. She Was specially built for the meat trade, and has throe insulated holds capable of storing 120,000 carcasses. Sho as also convertible, if necessary, for oil burning. The vessel is 500 ft over all, with beam 62ft. Captain Cottell has with him Mr T. Kippins, chief officer; Mr W. R. Johnston, second officer; Mr C. R. Townsend, third officer; Mr A. G. Newbury, fourth officer; Mr W. Gray, chief engineer.
