RIFLE MEETING
NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. Ideal shooting weather prevailed at the Puliki rilie range yesterday, when the Wanganui Rifle Association’s North Island Championship was commenced. 'The range was in .splendid condition, and a steady, clear light and an absence of wind until the last match was being finished made tho shooting pleasant and interesting. The entries wore very satisfactory, approximating 100. There were in all twentytwo dubs represented, riflemen coming from Napier, Wellington, Now Plymouth, Hastings, Hawera, Masterton, and Waikato, as well as .from clubs nearer at hand. Among well-known shots present are Rifleman D. J. Guinoy (Petone), tho winner of tho Champion Belt last year; Rifleman A. Ballinger, an ex-New Zealand champion; A. Marelt (Taranaki Rifles), R. J. King, H. Hunt, and E. S. King, all previous winners of tho North Island Championship. The following aro tho principal results:— W r anganul Match, 500 and 600 yards.— S. J.
