Business m the wheat market has been quiet. Mallei.', are carrying fairly heavy slocks, and offerings from tho fanners have eased oil. ho demand for fowl wheat is also quiet, thuer ports are quoting under Dunedin pi.c The Dunedin quotation is Is fid t.-o.b s:u;U extra, but growers arc not inclined to cell at’ the rates. Onions bare been very short of supply, not near enou h to go round, and they sold up as high a, 50s a owl- Melbournes will conic forward by the Paloona, which is expected to arrive on the 21 lb of this month, and prices will raiv»e somewhere -about/ £1 a cwt. Consignments of citrus fruits have come upward", -and all mot with ready sales. Bananas have been short of supply, and prices high 'the market- has been bare of lemon*, ami they are wanted. Supplies of local-grown cherries are coming in freely, and prices have been moderate. Strawberries hare also been in full supply, and prices reasonable. Black currants and gooseberries arc a.so offering freely. Peas -have been m full supply, and sold as low as a lb—too low to' give iho grower any return.
