His Honor Mr Justice Adams is on a visit to Dunedin. The 'Wellington Automobile Club lias decided to join "with the other North Island motor associations in nominating Mr M. H. Wynyard. of Auckland, as the motorists’ representative on the Highways Board. Mr John Farrell, of the managerial staff of J. 0. Williamson, Ltd., who has been on a health-recruiting visit to Sydney, returned to Wellington on Monday by the Tahiti, accompanied by Mr 11. Burton and Mr Harry Lurcher. The party arrived in A add and on Wednesday, where Mr Buxcher will supervise the production of a number of new theatrical features. Ho will then join the Niagara, ©n route to Englanid. Sir Aurelian Eidsdalo and - Lady lUdsdatej who have been visiting the principal tourist resorts of the dominion, were passengers by the Niagara for Sydney, en route fox England. Brigadier-General Watts, of Oark, Ireland, who commanded a division of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in tiio late war, is at present in Wellington. He is accompanied by Mrs Watts. Mr 11. H. Ostler, of Auckland, is leaving on January 21 for England, and will be absent for the greater port of a year. Misses Hectorina M‘Crao and Winifred M’Mlllhn have been appointed to the staff of Coin mb a College. On Thursday night the Strand Salon was the scene of a very enjoyable function in celebration of the'silver wedding of Mr and Mrs Hugh Mitchell. About eighty guests resembled to do honor to the host and hostess and to share their hospitality. The toast “The Bride and Bridegroom” was spoken to by several guests, who, In offering congratulations and good, wishes, voiced the feelings of all present. Messages of goodwill were conveyed in a sheaf of telegrams from various parts of the dominion. The bridesmaid, Mrs A. Burk, who was present, was also toasted i n a felicitous speech. Constable W. Brown, who has been stationed at the Central Police Station for a number of years, has been appointed to take charge of the North Invercargill Station. Mr G. Spear, of Wellington, arrived here this afternoon on a holiday visit-. Air J. T. Hantaan ha,s gone for a tour of the North Island. Mr T. Fcltham, long known in Dunedin, died at Wanganui a few, days ago. Old residents of Dunedin will remember him as a clever cornet player in his younger davs.
