A SHOOTING MISHAP. An Invercargill message states that 3 (shooting njoqiaent Occurred at Awarua Bay whereby Andrew Wallace, 'thirty-five years of age, a well-known employe© in a stock and station agents’ firm, was seriously injured. According to his statement, ho borrowed a rifle from a friend) for the purpose of a day’s shooting, and an accident occurred] in the afternoon or early evening. Ho was unoonscioua for soma time, and, coming to, reached his motor and attempted' to drive to town.' tlirough a bad road in narrow, swampy, and scrub country. He reached a distance of four or five miles from the scene of the accident, and her© a farmer’s wife was attracted by the sound of a motor tooting. Investigating, she fount! Wallace in a state of collapse. A doctor was summoned', and the injured man was conveyed to the Southland Hospital, where it was found that the bullet had perforated the loft lung. Ho lies in a critical condition. •
