BAVARIAN INCIDENTS. NOTE BITTERLY RESENTED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BERLIN, December 4. The Ambassadors’ Council’s Note to Bavaria has aroused bitter feeling throughout the country. Even the more democratic newspapers, whilst blaming the Nationalists for inciting ignorant people to attack the Allied officers, protest in strong terms against the Note. The Frankfurter ‘ Zcitung ’ declares that not another nation in the world would have shown such patience in the face of the growing arrogance of the conquerors. —A. and N.Z. Cable. FRANCE AND THE RHINELAND. C HANCELLOR’S DECLAIRATTO N. BERLIN, December 4. (Received December 5, at 9.15 a.m.) Herr Cuno, speaking at the Press Club in the Reichstag, said that ho was strongly opposed to the French Rliineland plans, and he would demand an opportunity to open negotiations with the Allies in regard to reparations. The Ambassadors’ Note showed that mahy people had l not yet conceived the mere idea of peace. All attempts against the Rhineland would be resisted. Rhineland would remain German. —A. and N.Z. Cable. SOARING PRICES. BERLIN, December 4, (Received December 5, at 9.10 a.m.) Official figures show that the cost of living increased; 102 per cent, in November. Food is now 550 times and' clothing 741 times above the pre-war prices. The October trade returns show that the imparts exceeded' the exports to the extent of 240,000,000 .gold; marks.—A. and N.Z.
