CHRISTMAS CHEER
10 TEE EDITOR. Sir,—Onco again I ask you to permit your’columns to ho used for my annual appeal ou behalf of those who are so unfortunately situated as to require assistance from the Otago Hospital Board, and to open a list for tho reception of donations. Tho board is not in the same position as those who arc dispensing private charity, and is unable to do more than is absolutely necessary in cases requiring help ; but it has now been my custom for some years to apply to the ever generous Dunedin public, which never turns a deaf car to a worthy cause, to provide funds whereby the relief may be doubled at Christmas and New Tear weeks, thus allowing tho board’s “large family,” which consists of very many children, to enjoy a little of that comfort and cheer at the festive season which comes to those more fortunately circumstanced.
I can assure you that efforts in tho past, in the foregoing direction, have been more than appreciated, and whatever our good citizens may feci disposed to give m a worthy cause will again be gratefully received.
lu order to start the list I enclose piy usual donation of £1 Is.—l am, etc., William T. Talboys, Chairman of Benevolent Committee, the Otago Hospital Board. December 4.
[We shall bo glad to acknowledge and forward further subscriptions to this cause.—Ed. S.S.]
