COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS CHOIR

To mark the close off the activities of the choir during the year, a, social evening was spent on Saturday at the club rooms. The chairman (Mr B. S. Wardrop) was supported by Mr F. H. King, (president of the association) and Mr J. S. Douglas (mayor). The Chairman expressed his pleasure at tho presence of the president and His Worship tho Mayor, and mentioned that the choir, after haring gone through a strenuous and highly successful season, •would now rest for the summer months. On 'behalf of tho choir he presented Mr George Scott (conductor) with a goldmounted pencil as a slight recognition of his services and the interest ho had taken in tho choir. Mr J. P, GiUan (secretary) also toot tho opportunity of handing Mr Scott a fine -bunch of roses for Mrs Scott. The principal toasts honored were; “The Manufacturing Interests of Otago” (proposed by Mr B. Midgley and responded to by Mr A. Smollie); “The Chairman,” "The Ohoir” (proposed by the mayor), “ Dunedin ait the Exhibition ” (proposed by Mr A. Smollie and responded to by the mayor), “The C.T. and W. Association ” (proposed by Mr T. Ritchie and responded to by tho president), and “Officers of tho Choir.” Musical items were given by the mayor, Messrs H. J. Hankinson, George Mearns, C. King, T. M'Clolland, A. Smellie, S. T. Mirams, B. Midgley. and W. APLean. The gathering closed with a cordial vote of thanks to the chairman, Mr Georg© Pope (pianist), mnd Mr AT. A. Lucas (club manager).
