ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. This morning, at about 9 o'clock, Mr Wright, a farmer residing at tho Taieri, found a man on the side of tho road- with his throat cut. A constable was sent for, and it was found that tho man was alive, but had so severely gashed himself that ho could hardly speak. Tho man was attended to by 'Dr Spcddiug, who ordered his removal to tho hospital. It was afterwards discovered that tho man's name, was Harry Murphy, aged about sixty-five years. For twelve years past ho had been a miner on tho West Coast, but had been idlo for tho last eighteen months. Ho stated that he was tired of his life, and thought ho would epd it. At a Late hour this afternoon Murphy was reported to be progressing satisfactorily.
