A Wellington Associatmn message states that the Employers rederai;„u pis issued a statement in wiliiel: it ray.-, that at tno interview between renrerentatives-of the Seamen’s Union and the ship owners on luesday it was made plain that hostility to the award was the reason .for the of work, and a proposal was made on behalf ot the muon that the old agreement of IS2O should be re-enacted with a slight increase of wages.-The employers have no option but to dbserve tho a" aid, ami intend to do■ so. The award expires at tho end of next October and if after a fair trial it is found that certain mutters ncc-J reconsideration, they can then bo re considered.
