CHORAL SOCIETY

Last night’s practice was taken up with detail and analysis work of certain of the ‘ Messiah ’ choruses. Air V. E. Galway, the conductor, drew attention to strong and weak accents, phrasing, breathing, crescendos, and diminuendos, attack, smoothness in attack, runs, etc. The chorus wore quick in responding to his interpretations and requests._ The ‘ Messiah’ concerts are to be given in His Majesty’s Theatre on Friday and Saturday, December 1 and 2. The male voices have been considerably strengthened, and an unusually good presentation of the choruses of "this great oratorio is being keenly anticipated. The soloists arc Miss Natalina Al'Callum, Airs Wilfred R. Andrews, Mr Sydney Butler, and Air AY. Watters. The Hon. G. AI. Thomson, M.L.C., president of the society, enjoyed himself in the chorus last night. At the interval lie congratulated the members on their interest and attendance, and the general good progress of the society.
