CATASTROPHE THREATENED. GENEVA, Ootober 16. (Received October 17, at 12.25 p.m.) The extent of tho Near Eastern refugee Sblem k emphasised .by a telegram which Nansen has Bent from Constantinople to the Secretariat of tflio League of Notions, saying that 750,000 refugees from Asia Minor aro distributed throughout Groeco, Thrace, and the islands. They are mostly women and children, and they are without money,, food, shelter, _or clothing. The Government relief are doing their utmost to oopo witlh urgent necessities: but the organisation of relief on a marai vaster scale is essential, an order to avert a catastrophe. Dr Narisen appeals urgently for public funds.—Renter.
