A FRIEND OF THE SOVIET.
PARIS, October 6. (Received October 17, at 12.15 p.m.) M. Harriot, a member of tho Chamber of Deputies a>nd Mayor of Lyons, has returned from Russia. Interviewed by tho 'Petit Journal,' ho states that Lenin, Trotsky, Krassin, Tchrtaberin, and Kameneff are broad-minded, intelligent men. Trotsky particularly has all tho -qualities of a real statesman. Despite her errors in supporting Generals Wramgel and Denikem, Franco has the hig-hcst moral prestige in Russia. The British Straits policy is the greatest menace for Russia, which, having lost Rica, has only Constantinople for an outlet. Tho freedom of the Straits is essential to Russia's existence. French interests are the same as Russia's in that respeot.— A. and N.Z. Cable.
