OBITUARY
Mr Weslev Turton, who practised law in and tho Wakatipu disiuct for over fiftv voars, died on Saturday, aged seventy-five* rears. -Deceased was a son of the‘late Rev. Henry Hanson 1 urton, one of tho early missionaries, who afterwards entered the Public Service, became Resident Magistrate and Warden of tho Coromandel goldfields for several years, and sub'cmiently represented Taranaki in the teal Assembly. The late Mr Turton was born in the dominion, and was a barrister of remarkable attainments, with_ a rich store of memories and a kindly disposition. Only ono of the three sons, Mr Richmond Hanson Turton, solicitor,_ Greytown. is now alive, tho eldest, Gerald, having died many years ago in thfe Philippine Islands, and the youngest, Douglas Kirk, dying seme fifteen months ago at Havelock North. The daughters are Mrs Norman Halcombe (who resides with her mother at New Plymouth), Mrs Geoffrey Eaton Turner (lately resident in the Andes, South America, hut now living in England), and l Mrs Lewis Devenieh Meares (whose homo is in Ireland). Mr Hanson Turton, formerly District Landis Registrar of Deeds at Dunedin, was a brother of Mr Turton, as were also Messrs Gibson and Kirk Turton. The death of Mr Louis J. Pirani, one of the proprietors and business manager of the Feilding ‘Star,’ occurred last week. Ho was a son of Mr Fred Pirani, of Wellington,
