The Secretary of the New Zealand Union wrote that the manager of the New Zealand team (Mr Dean) which visited Sydney had ' made Dio following recc-m----mendation :—‘ 1 1 am not favorably inclined to the present-day wing terwaid, and I am of the opini'ia that ho should be , abolished from ’.ho game altogether, and that we in New Zealand should tall into line with, all the liughv playing countries of the world mid adopt the three-two-throe scrummage. lam confident that better and brighter football would result, and it would also tend to eliminate playing the man instead of playing tho b a lf.”—The letter was received, the chairman remarking that it would be sent on to the next mooting of delegates. SCHOOLS COMPETITIONS. EXCLUSION OF MARI STS DISFAVORED. [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, October 17, Representatives of various sports bodies discussed the decision of tho Athletic Association limiting its competitions to State schools, and excluding tho M-arist amd other Church schools. The carried a motion protesting against the decision of the association, regretting that no reasons had been given for it, mid urging the association to appoint delegates to confer with sports bodies before enforcing it.
