Sinclair, hon. secretary_of the Otago University Football Club, in a letter to last night’s meeting of the executive, under date of October 9, that he held been instructed to reply as follows: We are in receipt of your letter of ' October o embodying the resolution paeaed by your executive ro tho match Otago v. 'University. It is obviously not in the province of the University team to bring specific charges against players. This is a matter for tho referee and for union officials. It is regrettable that none of tbs union officials were in a

position to seo whether (ho game was played in the right manner <r net. Having achieved its object in drawing the attention of the O.R.F.U. to the fact that rough play docs exist, and that it will not he tolerated, at least by the University Club, the University team will not push the matter any f urthev. Tho President (Mr Cayanagh) said that as a result of a discussion at a meeting of tho executive a few weeks ago a letter was sent to the University Club asking it to make specific charges. The whole matte had been fully discussed by the executive. Tho referee, the lino umpires, and the officials of tho union had not made a charge against any player in the match, and he did not think that the executive could do any more than receive the letter from tho University Club. Members of the executive might'have some fuller light to throw on tho matter. It was for them to say if they had. Mr D. M. Stuart said :hat (bo matter had been fully ventilated, and he would move that the*letter le received. The motion was duly seconded ana carried without discussion.
