M‘CLEARY-M‘QUARRIE AFTERMATH. [Special to the ‘ Star.’] CHRISTCHURCH. October 9. The ‘Star’ says; “In the face of the clamor raised by the Otago Boxing Association, the New Zealand Boxing Council has been well advised in deciding to reopen the M'Cleary-M'Quamc case. It will prevent any possibility of the association being able to pose as a body with a just grievance, and, incidentally, may result in running to earth some of the strange reports which have been in circulation since the council’s decision of August 18. AUSTRALIAN EVENTS. At the Sydney Stadium on Saturday night, Speck Ramies (the Californian feather-weight) beat Packy M'Fa.rlane in seventeen hard-fought rounds, the Australian tiring towards the finish. Stewart beat Charlie Ring on points in a contest in Melbourne Stadium. The bout was marked by hard slogging throughout. The winner inflicted severe punishment, and downed Ring several times. THE SENEGALESE BOXER. PARIS, September 27. Although it was previously announced that Battling Siki’s share of the “ gate ” in his contest against Georges Carpentier was 200,000 francs, the negro actually received 2,000 francs. The total gate receipts were 650,000 francs, a record for France. After two wild nights at the Montcmarte cabarets Siki became penniless, but it is reported that he is receiving dazzling offers from Australia, England, and America. The Senegalese is married to a tall, slender Dutch girl, whose striking beauty offsets her husband's He is described as “ the ugliest thing that ever stepped inside a prize-ring.”
