Dr Milton A. Nobles, a Philadelphia (U.S.A.) geologist and student of volcanic disturbances, declared on July 25 last that within thirty days Southern Europe, Northern Africa, and the whole of Asia would be destroyed by earthquakes, and their population wiped out. Claiming to ho the oldest motorist m the world, Auguste Jeansonno, a farmer o: Opelousas, Louisiana (U.S.A.), won a prize at a carnival offered to the oldest driver of tho oldest car in the country. Jcansonne is aged 111, and his car is a Ford built in 1908. By his side rode his eldest daughter, who is ninety years old.
