THE WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT. [Special to the 'Star.’] LOWER HUTT, October 6. The second 1 round of the Wellington provincial championship was played in lovely weather, but the wind was rather strong in the latter part of the day, which prevented 1 good scoring in the second medal handicap. Results in (he championship ; Miss Bell (Wellington) heat Miss Beadel (Christchurch), 2 and 1. Miss Watson (Palmerston) beat Mrs Collinson (Manawatu), 1 up. Mrs- Orbcll (Oninaru) heat Miss Snodgrass (Rotorua), 5 and 4. Mrs Speers lllutt) heat Miss Mantel (Wellington), 5 and 2. In the semi-finals in the afternoon Miss Bell beat Mrs Speers, 1 up on the last green. Miss Watson beat Mrs Orbcll, 4 and o. Miss Watson played good golf in the last half. Mrs Orbcll being 1 up at the lain. Miss Watson then won four holes in succession. Mrs Orbcll failed to carry the ridee at the fifteenth, picking up and giving 'Miss Watson the hole and the match. ■ In the other came Muss Bell scratched home. allhouL'h'playing poorer golf than .Mrs Speers, the latter being superior round the greens. They were all square at the fourteenth ;at tlie sixteenth Miss Bell was i up: and at the seventeenth they were all square. Going to the last green Miss Bell was just short, and Mrs Speers pitched oil the green. Miss Bell ran up well. Mrs Smuts laid her third about 4ft from the pin. Miss Bel! holed the putt for a 4. Mrs Speers missed her putt, leaving Miss Beil 1 up. Mi* llodg.shun and Mis Cook (Otago) tied in the foursome with Mrs Lawrence and Miss Harlev (Christchurch). A four-ball Bogy in the morning and the finals in the afternoon will finish the tournament. The’ Dunedin players cross to Christchurch■ on Saturday night, playing in the 0:boll Cup on Monday and Tuesday.
