'LAND OF THE PHARAOHS'

The subject of Mr Alexander Bradley’s lecture in Burns Hall on Tuesday, ‘ The Land of the Pharaohs,’ including, as it does views of ancient and modern interest in Palestine, touches the deepest feelings of the student of history, whether sacred or secular. Interesting views taken during General Allenby’s progress in tho Holy Land—not only of our soldiers, but of the scenes which are hallowed in tho minds of every Christian—bring back to the memory much of the story of Old and New Testament. Tho great combat with Mohammedanism, the greatest problem of Christian missions at the present moment, tho conditions of life for women and girls under tho religion of tho Koran, the progress of “ Christianity in Egypt,” and kindred subjects form the basis of Mr Bradlev’s most interesting and instructive address. Throughout tho North Island this lecture has attracted largo audiences in most of the chief centres.
