The popularity of dancing is again increasing in London. .Of the new season the secretary of ono of London’s popular social oluha told an interviewer: “It is going to be a splendid season. People are keener than ever on dancing—in fact, dancing has increased in popularity to a marked 1 extent. As to what are going to be the most popular dances, probably they will bo tbo foxtrot and tie waltz. Wfe have done all we can to get interest in the tango, but without success as yet. People ait present do not seem to take to it as far as wo are concerned. It has been rumored that the dancing pendulum is swinging back so much from the yazz type that dancing may soon almost become classical. While it is true there is a reaction from the more violent typo of dances, it is quite improbable that wo_ shall ever dance the minuet again.” Mir William Wlashbum Nutting, commodore of the Cruising Club of America, who has challenged the Duke of Leinster to a single-handed Transatlantic kotch race, said that crossing the ocean all by oneself Is not a terribly risky thing to do. It is more of a test of one’s abibty to keep from being bored to death than any other quality, he declared. Several sailors have successfully traversed the Atlantic alone. Howard Blackburn, of Gloucester, Mass., did it twice. During the nineties Captain Joshua Slocum sailed all the way round the world hy himself, devoting several years to tbo voyage.
