Swetzer von tho amateur golf cham--1 pionship, defeating Ohio Evans (America), i 3 up to 2 to play, in the final of a 36j ‘hole round.—Washington cable. I AMATEURS v. PROFESSIONALS. At Palmerston North on Saturday the four-ball match was won by tho professionals by 3 games to 2. Results (amateurs mentioned first): Sime and Morpeth lost to Clements and Moss, 1 up. Duncan and Lusk lost to Brooke and Ham, 4 up and 3 to play. Norton and BidweJl beat Shaw and Butters, 1 up. Wight and Bell lost to Blair and M'Cormick, 2 up and 1 to play. Cross and Eckstedt Beat Watt and Forrest, 1 up. Record entries have been received for tlvs various events in the tournament, which begins to-day. Some 140 golfers are competing. AT BALMACEWEN.
