YORKSHIRE'S BRILLIANT VICTORY. Press -Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, August 26. Yorkshire's defeat of Hampshire was their most brilliant victory of the season. Primarily Yorkshire worked for a first innings lead, a win appearing impossible in the time. Hants tried .five bowlers unsuccessfully in an attempt to keep down the runs; and when Yorkshire, thanks to Sutcliffe and Rhodes, defeated this purpose, the spectators settled down for a certain draw. Then came the thrills. Hants, in the -second innings, lost Tennyson, Bowell, and Day for 13 runs. Two more had gone at 30. Mead (Hampshire’s greatest hope) and Aird added only 5, Kilner took the remaining three wickets rapidly, the innings closing for 44 (Kilner six wickets for 13, Wadchngton four fox--24).—A. and N.Z.
