AN ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August 25. Tho North-eastern Railway will shortly bo used to convey the Flying Scotsman between York and’Newcastle. This is the first high-speed electric locomotive which has been built in Britain, and it will bo absolutely safe, drawing 450 _ tons at a maximum speed of ninety miles hourly, and an average speed of sixty miles over long distances. If the venture is successful the whole North-eastern system will use electric in prefernco to steam locomotives.—A. and N.Z. Cattle.
