NEW ZEALAND CUP SCEATCHINGS Gasbag and Rapine were scratched for the New Zealand Cup at 1.50 p.m, yesterday _____ GOLF. At Newton (Massachusetts) Sarazen and Ouimet defeated Kirkwood and Hagen, 3 up and 2 to play, over eighteen holes. Sarazen actually won tho match unaided, bis ball being 1 up.—New York cable. BILLIARDS. In the match of 16,000 up between M'Conachy and Peall, the scores are:— Pcall (rec. 2,000), 6,541; M'Con achy, 3,878.— London cable. ROSLYN 'TENNIS CLUB. Mr J. L. Salmond (president) occupied the chair at the eighteenth annual meeting of the Hoslyn Lawn Tennis Club, held last evening. . In its annual report the outgoing committee referred to the success which attended the efforts of the club during the past season, and the satisfactory condition of its financial affairs. The year ended with a credit balance of £7O, and it was proposed to devote £so_ of that sura to certain necessary and desirable repairs and renovn,lions, which, it was hoped would be completed before opening day. In view of the large membership and the need of having all the courts available, the top-dressing of the two top.courts had been postponed, and the incoming committee was recommended to proceed with this work towards the end of December. The general standard of play had been quite satisfactory, and several club members had done well in tournament play, notablv Mr S. G M'DougaU, who had retained his title as champion of Southland. , . The report and balance-sheet having been adopted, the election of office-bearers resulted as follows -.—President, Mr J. L. Salmond; vice-presidents—Messrs R. S. Black, E. H. Calder, and A. C. M'Gcorgo; secretary, Mr K. Wehling; treasurer, Mr R. S. Black; Management Committee — Messrs G. P. Evans, 0. Sonntag, and S. G M'DougaU, Misses M‘Oar thy and Pattison; auditor, Mr G. I. Black; delegate* to the Otago Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs S. G. M'DougaU and G. I. Black. The opening day -was fixed for September 50.
The incoming committee was recommended to start the club tournament early m the season, and also to revise the ladder rules.
