THE COAL OUTLOOK. Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright. WASHINGTON, August 24. Mr Hoover announced that 75 per cent, of the normal weekly bituminous coal demands will bo mined this week, and the production next week will total 7,000,000 tons. The coal situation is improving, but there is a shortage of coal waggonson the railways. Senator Walsh introduced a resolution authorising the President to take over the mines, and asking for a million dollar appropriation for this purpose. Senator Walsh charged the President and Congress with remaining inactive and waEfing until it was too late to prevent great suffering through the coal shortage. Senator Cummins defended tho President, but admitted that there would bo intense suffering in New York and New England States this winter.—A. and TI.Z. Cable.
