DEATH OF FRANK GRIFFIN
A cable message from Sydney announces that Frank Griffin, the New Zealand welter-weight, after knocking out Curly Parks at Wollongong ou Saturday, collapsed and died the lollowing day. , , , . Our Christchurch correspondent telegraphs that a from Woollon<rong, New South Wales, states. “ Frank won the fight, but died from the effects. Break the nows at home.” Griffin was the fifth and youngest son of the late J. Griffin and Mrs Griffin, of Greymouth. His father died some years ago, but his mother is still alive at Wellington. Three brothers survive, these being: Jim (ox-heavy-weight of Australasia), who now resides at Takaka, Nelson; Jack (ex-light-weight champion), now of Christchurch; and Charles (the well-known feather-weight), now in the United States. There are two sisters—Mrs Lynch, of Christchurch, and Miss E. Griffin. , Frank Griffin, who' was about twentyfive years of ago, married Miss L. Anderson, of Hokitika. It is understood that his last fight was against Curly” Parks, of , Woolongong.
