Tire King sent the following message to Mrs Griffith: I learnt with deep regret of the death of Mr Griffith, and 1 I offer my profound sympathy. APPEAL TO REPUBLICANS, LONDON, August 14. Received August 15, at 9-50 a.m.) Mr Michael Collins, interviewed, said that Mr Griffith’s death was a calamity to Ireland. A malignant fate seemed to be do,geing Ireland, and always at a critical period depriving her of trusted and followed leaders. “At present,” he added, “I am a, soldier. but I think I can promise that if those who are against ns accept the terms offered by tho Government our differences can bo composed. It is not too late for Mr Do Valera and his followers to honor the passing of a great patriot by now achicvimr what Mr Griffith gave his life for—a United Ireland and Irish Nation.” —A. and N.Z. Cable. LYING IN STATE. LONDON. August 14. (Received August 15, at 12.5 p.m.) Tho body of the late Mr Arthur Griffith will lie in state at the City Hall, Dublin, till to-morrow evening, when it will be borne to the pro-cathedral. There was an impressive procession in the streets yesterday, when the body was taken to tho City Hall, including members of the Dail Eireaim Government, bapds, detachments of troops with arms reversed, and a largo crowd of the public. The City Hall was draped with black. A military guard of honor surrounds the coffin, which is wrapped in tho FreeState tricolor. There is a constant entree of mourners.—Reuter.
