NEW YORK, August 12, (Received August 14, at 8 a.m.)

Mr Martin H. Glynn, a former Governor of New York State, wirelessing to the ‘New York Times’ from aboard the Adriatic, give’s a graphic account of the accident, which, lie says, might have been one of the greatest sea disasters in history. He states that the explosion in the hol'd was due to the spontaneous combustion of coal dust. It caused the ship to rock, and sent a bright (lame into the Captain David receives the highest praise from Mr Glynn, who says : “Ho is a natural seaman, and like a Norseman of old.” He stopped the ship, and the pumps poured tons of water into the seething hold. The officers stood by the lifeboats. Three-fourths of the passengers are American. Ail acted bravely, and the crew were superb. The pumps wore worked for hours, and the passengers waited ready to embark in lifeboats, but finally Captain David announced that the danger was over.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
