Messrs Bray Bros, (of Dunedin), Ltd., report as follows for the week ending August 12, 1922: The' chaff market is quiet, and consignments are on the light _ side. Feeders arc holding fair stocks in the meantime. Best quality is selling up to £1 15s a ton, sacks extra, while medium and poor quality is slow of sale at £2 10s to £3 10s. There had been a little more inquiry in tho oat market, sales having been made to the North Island at 2s 9d f.0.b., s.i., for B Cartons, and A grade up to 2s 111(1. A few lines of oats aro offering at this value, and are quite sufficient torneot the demand. Tho wheat market is unsettled, millers confining their purchases to prime lines. It is proposed to allow export after September, which may firm prices. Fowl wheat is offering freely at moderate prices. Dunedin millers’ prices are as follow': Flour, £lB to £2O; bran, £5; pollard, £9; and oatmeal, £lB to £l9. The potato market has firmed up for good lines, although the northern markets aro easier, and from£6 10s to £7 5s is obtained in Dunedin tq-day for best quality. Lines free of blight aro clifficut to secure. Local prices do not submit to shipping from this port, as Canterbury quotations are £6 f.0.b., s.i. The onion market remains steady, and prices range up to 21s cwt. The Australian market firmed up to £l6 10s, which means £2l landed hero. Business in the fruit marts has been busy during the week, some good Australian fruit coming to hand and realising fair prices. Tho duty on oranges, bananas, and mandarines will be removed this month. This should make a considerable difference to business, and with a possibility of securing direct sendee to the South Island, everything points to a better supply of these lines shortly. Bananas aro short of supply, and there is a good sound inquiry for both dessert and cooking apples. The market is short. Cabbages and cauliflowers are also short of supplyall other lines of vegetables are offering. Eggs have eased in price during the week, fair supplies coming forward, and everything points to the market still weakening. Cased eggs are selling; at Is 3d, and stamped and guaranteed at Is 4d. Honey, cheese, and bacon are in good supply, and the market easy. Business in the fruit and produce lines generally has been fair, and everything points to an improvement in the spring. Tho following prices were realised during the week:— Sparrowbill oats, 3s. Oats, Gartons, 2s 9d. Chaff, prime oaten, £4 15s. Fowl wheat, 4s to 4s 6d. Wheaten straw, £2 10s; oaten, £3 ss. Honey.—Sections, 10s dozen; bulk, 6]d to 7Jd. Beeswax, Is 9d. Butter.— Creamery pats, Is lOd; bulk, Is Did; dairy and separator, Is 4d to Is scl. Cheese.—Mild, Bjd to 9]d; matured, to Is.
