At the opening of the Otago Youth Workers' Institute last night the Rev. J. Kilpatrick referred .sympathetically to tho death of Mr ft. Hilohic, a superintendent well known for his long association with the North-cast Valley congregation, and at Concord latterly. A resolution of sympathy with the widov: and family was carried.

Before commencing the business of tho Dunedin Presbytery this morning it was decided In send a letter of sympathy to the remaining daughters of Dr Burns in tho loss of their .sister, Mrs Livingston. Professor Joint Malcolm has been appointed a member of the Board of Governors of Columba College in the place of te Hon. G. M. Thomson, who resigned.
Mr Hector M'Leoti, who has been rabbit inspector for the last thirty-three years, retires from the service from to-day on superannuation. Mr M'Leod was for the last twenty years stationed at Music 1. '

Mr fj. E Webb, of Wellington, left Dunedin this morning. Captain T. ,T. Watte, secretary of the United Eire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand, and Government inspector of volunteer brigades. Is at present making a periodical tour of the Otago and Southland districts. He reached Dunedin on Saturday evening from Auckland, and leaves to-morrow morning for Central Otago.
