Mr Bonar Law opened the International Chess Congress at the Central Hall, Westminster. It is the first international congress held iu England for twenty-three years. Capablanca, Alechin, Rubinstein., Tartakover, Mairoczy, Atkins, and Yates are playing. Watson (Australia) and .Morrison (Canada) represent the dominions.— A and N.Z. Cable.
[Capablanca, the present world's champion, is a Cuban. Rubinstein represents Germany, Alechin and Tartakover Czechoslovakia, Maroczy Hungary, and Atkins and Yates Great Britain. Watson won the Australasian championship at Melbourne this year.] .
