FOOTBALL REFEREES.
TO THE EDITOR.
-Sir, —1 read a letter in to-night's ‘ Star ’ on referees at Carisbrook by “Square Deal” objecting to a few of the referees, and mentioning such men aa Alessrs Hamburg. E. Torrance, Stevens, J. Sutherland, and°A. Eckbold. They are all good' moil, but one of those mentioned could not expect to have the match, as he is employed with a great number of the Kaikorai Club members. I would not like to see Air Eckholdi have charge of a match like ’Varsity and Kaikorai if his refereeing is as good as some of his play was a few years ago—kick to the line.—l am, etc., July 26. J- Williams.
