Messrs Bray Bros, (o! Dunedin), Ltd., report as follows for the week ended July 15:—

During the week fair inquiry has been experienced from the North Island for fowl wheat, and sales have been made to 4s 6d, f.0.b., sacks extra; and there has also been a better demand in the local market. There has also been more inquiry for oats during the week, and sales have been made in the North Island on a basis of 3s Id, f.0.b., s.i., for A grade, and 2s lOd for B grade. Consignments of chaff are falling off. There is a fair demand tor best quality, and sales have been made up to £4 15s, sacks extra, ox truck. Poor and medium quality are slow of sale, and these are quoted as low as £3 per ton. Milling, new season’s, according to Government prices: Tuscan, os 7W, f.0.b.; hunters, 5s lO^d; and pearl, 6s 4£d. Dunedin millers' prices are as follow: —Flour, £lB to £2O; bran, £5; pollard, £9; and oatmeal, £lB to £l9. Oatmeal has been reduced £l. Prices of potatoes have finned as the result of reports from the North. It is understood that the severe frosts in Ca-itorbury have affected the crops that are still in the ground. Lines free of disease and well graded are selling up to £6, but diseased and badly graded are slow of sale at £3. Tire onion market has also firmed up. are about finished. Tho Paloona brought a shipment of Melbourne onions, _ which are being offered at 19s per cwt, and everything points to the market still going higher. Business in the fruit marts has been fair during tho week. Fair consignments of Tahiti oranges came forward, and prices have been low. These have affected the Australian fruits held by auctioneers, and most of the imported lines are offering below cost. The Paloona, which arrived on Friday, brought fair consignments of Australian onions, oranges, pines, and lemons. The bananas coming to hand of late are of poor quality, and proving a loss to consignors. Good dessert and cooking apples are in fair request. Tire market is bare of pears. Vegetables have a fair inquiry, and choice cauliflowers are bringing high prices. Milled and dairy pat butter is offering more freely, and prices easier. The supply of cheese is also equal to tho demand, and inquiries have fallen away. Bacon is in good supply, and the price has been reduced by per lb during the week. Bulk honey is meeting with a better inquiry, and prices are firming. Eggs are coming forward more freely, and prices are inclined to ease. Preserved eggs are difficult to sell. Tho following prices were realised during the week: — Sparrowbill oats, 2s 9d to os. Oats i Gartons, 2s 6d. Chaff: Prime oaten, £4 15s. Fowl wheat, 4s to ss. Wheaten straw, £2 10s. Oaten, £3. Beeswax, to Is 9d. Honey: Sections, 10s a dozen; bulk, 6id to 7id. Butter: Creamery pats, Is lOd; bulk, Is 9|d; dairy and separator, Is sd. Cheese: Mild, B|d to 9jd; matured, to Is.

Bacon: Hitchon’s, ll|d. Hams, Is. Apples; Delicious, 15s; Glcopatras, 10s 6d; cookers (Lord Wolseleys), 9s 6d. Pears: Winter Coles, 4jd to Adelaide oranges, 225. Oranges: American, 30s. Tahiti oranges, ISs. Pines, 22s od to 25s 6d. Potatoes: Prime, £6. Carrots, Ss cwt. Turnips, 2s 6d cwt. Cabbage, 6s sack. Cauliflowers: Firsts, 12s sack. Pie melons, 15s cwt. Lettuce, 2s dozen. Walnuts: Choice Akaroa, Is 2d to Is 6d. Grapes, ss. Peanuts, 6id. Onions: Melbourne, 19s cwt. Pigs : Best porkers, sd; baconers, 6d; overweight, 3|d. Eggs; Fresh stamped. Is 7d; preserved, Is 2d.

Poultry: Hens, os 6d to 4s pair: cockerels, 6s 6d pair; ducks, 7s pair; turkeys, Is live lb weight.
