POLICE COURT
Saturday, July 15. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) BROKEN PROBATION. Archibald Hunter pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the terms of a probation license.—Mr _ Gumming asked that if any fine was imposed it should be a nominal one, as he only wanted an example for other probationers. Accused had reported straight away when he arrived in Dunedin from Christchurch.— The Magistrate impressed upon accused the necessity of following out the terms of the license, and fined him 20s, with the alternative of seven days 1 ' imprisonment. CASE DISMISSED. Alfred Tait was charged with failing to send his child to school.—Accused said that his child was registered at the North-east Valley School several months ago, and thiough a scratch he contracted skin disease and was sent home by the teacher. He produced a medical certificate stating that the boy was rot better yet.—The information was dismissed. REMANDED. Albertus David Eckhoff pleaded not guilty to an aggravated assault .on Julia Hart Eckhoff, his wife. Seniorsergeant Mathieson asked for a remand till Wednesday next, which was Granted. .
