MORATORIUM REQUESTED,

PARIS, July 12.
The German Note presented to the Reparations Commission asks for an immediate moratorium regarding all the remaining 1922 payments, including that duo on the 15th inst. It further requests that the moratorium bo to the cash payments for 1923-24. Finally, the Note asks for an immediate decision regarding the moratorium, and adds that Germany hopes that the negotiations regarding an exetrnal loan will bo shortly renewed.
The German Note admits the possession of sufficient gold to make the payment duo on July 15. It is declared that the Government has recently drawn on important resources in order to chock the depreciation of the currency. The Note requests that the amount ho allowed to remain at Germany's disposal.—A. and N.Z. Cable. COMMISSION’S REPLY. PARIS, July 13. (Received July 14, at 9.25 a.m.) The ‘Petit Parisian’ states: The Reparations Commission’s provisional reply to the moratorium request, while agreeing to consider Germany’s difficulties, will insist on the payment of the instalment on July 15, but the Commission states that it must await the Guarantee Committee’s report.on the German finances before deciding on a moratorium. Rive ‘ Journal ’ states; While Britain mhdit accept an unconditional moratorium France will demand securities for guarantees.—A. and N.Z. Cable.

Mr Lloyd George, in the House of Commons, said it would be necessary for the Allied Governments to consult one another with regard to a German moratorium, but the British Government thought, such respite should be given to Germany as would enable her to restore her financial position and make reasonable payments at the earliest possible moment.—A. and N.Z.
