DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY
Tho monthly meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery was held in First Church Hall this morning, the Moderator (the Rev. Fairiio Evans) presiding. AH’.MORTAL MINUTES. Memorial minutes were road by the Rev. Mr Adams, the Rev. R. E. Evans, and the Rev. J. Kilpatrick respecting the late Revs. Dr M. Watt, Alexander Gow, and A. Gray respectively.--Tho minutes were received, the members standing in prayer. GRANTS. Grants for tho repairs of manses were made to Knox Church, St. Andrews Church, South Dunedin, Brighton, Ravensbourne, and Anderson Bay Churches. CATECHISMS. The Rev. J. C.' Jamieson, convener of the Youth Commitee, recommended that the Presbytery approve of the Scottish Shorter Catechism being used in. Sunday schools.—After a lengthy discussion it was decided that it be a remit to the Assembly that tho use of the school catechism be sanctioned, in addition to the Shorter Catechism.—The Rev. 11. Alaclean said that what the Presbytery bad done showed want of confidence in the Youth Committee, and under tho circumstances he could do nothing but resign from the committee.—The resignation was over for consideration, JOHN APGLASTTAN COLLEGE, The annual report of the John AFGJa.shan College was received from the Board of Governors, and gave a full account of the progress and activities of the school during the past year. The report also stated that at the annual meeting of the board, held on March 20, the Revs. W. Trotter, Dr Camorbn, J. Kilpatrick, Professor D. B. Waters, and Messrs T. C. Ross, J. M'Ocorge, and G. G. White were recommended for reappointment as members of the board, arid asked that tiro Presbytery confirm the reappointments.—-The report was adopted and the reappointments confirmed, GENERAL. The Rev. Mr Fordyee reported on the South Taiori vacancy, - and recommended that a married .'.lndent, occupy the manse. —The recommendation was loft over for a month, and the report was received. Mr H. C. Campbell offered a section at Piirakamii for the building of a church, for the use of the summer visitors.—Mr Campbell was thanked for his generous offer, and it was decided to accept the gift.
The Rev. 11. Maclean read the report of the visitation to the Korth-east Valley charge, which was received, and deliverance made.
