(Received April 28. at 10.15 a.m.) In regard to the Government’s country development plan, it, is understood that Hu; liist scheme to be adopted will apply to the .Murray Diver lands, where 9.650,000 acres an; at present held under grazingleases, carrying an average of one sheep to thirty acres. All of this will be. available except about 29 per cent. 'The whole of this land is considered suitable for wheat growing. hi addition, there are some 590,000 'acres which it is proposed to place under irrigation and divide into small blocks for intense cultivation. Three railways, involving SCO miles of lines, with three bridges across the Murray to link up with the \ ictoriau lines, will bo required to tiring the aila under closer settlement Members of the Cabinet unofficially state that the. Commonwealth and Imperla,l Governments approve of tho scheme, and will provide tho necessity monev for the. block.
