BOY SCOUT ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING.

The first annual meeting of tho Dunedin Boy Scouts’ Association was held in tho St. John Ambulance Society’s rooms last night, when Major Fleming (Provincial Commissioner) presided. Associated with tlie chairman was tho mayor (Mr J. S. Douglas).

Before commencing the business of tho meeting (Major Fleming , referred to the death of the Rev. A. Gray, who had been an esteemed scoutmaster, and a resolution, of sympathy was paseud, those present standing in silence.

The Chairman, in moving the adoption of tho annual report (previously published) and balance-sheet, said that the executive had just got into its stride, and would be able to dn more work this year. He asked for assistance for (Mr Holdevncss, as the more help given him the better work ho would be able to do. He hoped that every troop of Scouts would be, represented" at the rally, programmes of which would bo issued shoitly. iho bill-anec-shcet, ho said, showed a small credit, which would enable them to carry on ti e work for a time without calling for assistance. The Mayor spoke to the motion, and said he consider'd it his doty to support the Scout movement, which was turning out good citizen/. Mr’ Holdcrness also spoke in support of thci motion, thanking tho executive and scoutmasters for ,their support. They had just formed a new troop jit Mosgiel, with a membership of twenty-live already, with Mr, MT’cak as scoutmaster; ami there was also a. probability of a troop being formed at Caversham, 'with Mr Gridgcrnan as master. 'Che motion was carried. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, His Worship the- Mayor: vice-presidents, Hon.’ W. D. Stewart and Air T. K. Sidcy, M.P. ; executive—Scoutmasters Cowie, Garden, Gridgeman, and the Rev. J. Millet. Mesdamcs Smith and Glendining, and Mcs-rs Tvuen, Hay, and Chadwick (chairman).
