AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. LUCAS BEATS BOREHAM. Tho Australasian championship tournament promoted by the New Zealand Draughts Associate was concluded yesterday. The final round between Boreham ant! Lucas war; well contested. In tho final game Lucas secured an advantage, maintain jug it to Urn end, and thus winning the coveted Australasian championship. The final scores in the championship j were as follow : Third Round.—Boreham, 1 win, 1 draw ; Brown, 1 win. Final.—Lucas, 1 win, 3 draws; Borehrun, no wins, HANDICAP TOURNEY. The prizetahers ate as follow: —Mr G, A. Brown (Christchurch), 29 points, 1; F. Hutchins (Invercargill), 26, 2; W. Carswell (Taiori), 25], 3; W. Young (Baknia), 23], 4; H. Morris. (Tuatapere), 23, 5: L. R. Morris (Palmerston), 22], 6. The mayor presented two prizes for competition—one for tho non-prizetnker scor. ing the greatest number of wins, and tho other for the lowest score with handicap, the respective winners being J. Bnico (New Plymouth) and E. Morris (Tuatapere). Tho following table shows tho positions of the various competitors;
