REPARATIONS PAYMENTS. POINCARE’S PERSISTENCE, Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, April 24. M. Poincare, in a speech, declared that if Germany dues not comply with tho programme of the Reparations Committee by May 51 the Allies, or, if necessary, Franco alone, will take tho coercive measures authorised by tho treaty. M. Poincare hopes for the Allies’ support, but ho intends to uphold the French cause with complete independence.—A. and N.Z. Cable. FRENCH PRESS PLEASED. PARIS, April 25. (Received April 26, at 10 a.m.) The newspapers generally acclniin M. Poincare's speech, in which lie declared that coercive measures would be taken if Germany does not comply with tho Reparations Committee's programme by May 51, but no paper advocates that Franco should take action alone. The desire is expressed that if action is found nec.esferrv Franco should 'be supported by the Allies; but if that is impossible, Franeb must act alone, and vigorously. ‘J/O Journal ’ points out that twice, within twenty-four -hours the impossibility of maintaining (he Entente has been referred to, thus illustrating the seriousness of the situation. —A. and N.Z.
