Counter-claims havo been filed bjf The New Zealand Seamen’s Federation against proposals of tho shipowners for an Arbitration Court award in respect to seamen dimmed on Now Zealand ships. Iho 1 Rost ’ is informed' that tho proposals of tho shipowners carry wages had;, to tho rates under tho agreement which was in operation in 1917, and represents a reduction of £4 16s 8d per _ month cn the i wages now paid, except in the case oi 1 ordinary seamen, where a reduction of £3 6s 8d 'is asked for. The federation’s counter-proposals suggest a daily rate of wages which are equal to an increase of £2 per calendar month on tho wages curi rent last November, or an increase of ’ 15s 4d monthly on tho wages now paid.
