PARAMOUNT'S TENTH ANNIVERSARY
Lending .stars, directors, and authors, representing the entire film profession in Hollywood, have sent a cablegram to Sarah Bernhardt in Paris, inviting her to come to America as their guest of honor in a nationwide celebration on the tenth'anniversary of the first big feature picture featuring a stage star. The cablegram, which was addressed to the famous actress at tho Sarah Bernhardt Theatre, Paris, was signed _hy thirty-eight of the screen’s leading artists, with William do Millo as chairman. According to reports received from Paris, it is expected that Mine. Bernhardt will accept. Her corning to America for this celebration is expected to be one of the big events of tho year in film and stage circles, and elaborate preparations arc being made for her entertainment. oinco Paramount’s announcement to tho trade of its plan to celebrate its tenth- anniversary in March, President Adolph Zukor has been deluged with telegrams from leading exhibitors all over the country, congratulating the company upon its success and present position' in the film world, and extending to Mr Zukor personally their felicitations, and expressing their appreciation of his leadership ever since the birth of tho modern .motion picture a decado ago. One of the country’s most prominent exhibitors telegraphed as follows;—“ Congratulations upon this tho tenth brilliant milestone in the resplendent career of the Famous Flayers Company. The history of motion pictures, reading at times like a wonder tale in its miraculous growth and expansion into an art worthy of tho name, is but a history of the foresight and the dauntless fortitude of Adolph Zukor in realising the dreams of a man of rare vision. I had the pleasure of showing tho first production released by tho Famous Players, and our theatres have been built more magnificently and more frequently as wo endeavored to keep in step with the amazing elaboration of your ideas. Tho industry owes you much, Mr Zukor. Congratulations and best wishes to you and to your organisation.”
