Tho Tutorial Committee met last Tuesday evening j present —Mr J. C. Stephens (presiding), Drs Bonham and Thompson, Messrs Osborn, M'Carthy, Dunn, Jones, Eudoy, Crowther, Bradley, and tho secretary. , , The registrar forwarded the names of tho University Council's representatives upon the District Council Tutorial Committee of the W.E.A. Tho registrar intimated that tho council had agreed to appoint Mr G. M'Crackon as tutor and organiser for a term of three years, and to place him upon the University staff. Further a room was available at tbo University for the uso of the W.E.A. class in psychology. . , ~ The secretary to the Dominion Council wrote, inter alia, as follows, under date March 8;—'"I was at Timaru last week with Professors Shelley and Condliffe, appealing for £2OO. Last night we started two classes at Kaiapoi and another at Rangiora, We. hope to form one also at Lyttelton. We do not know what to do for tutors.” It was resolved to agree to the Invercargill Committee’s suggestions regarding the organisation of classes in tho city and country; the sum of £240 to bo allocated for tutors’ salaries; recommendations regarding tho appointment of tutors to bo received later. The district secretary was instructed to visit Invercargill prior to the tutorial session and confer with the tutors and others. The Organiser reported upon tho various classes throughout Dingo. The classes at the University, Anderson Bay, North-east: Valley, Roslyn, engine sheds, St. Clair, Green Island, Milton, and Kaitangata ] would resume their studies in April. A j class had been formed for the study ot Psyclioknry with forty enrolments. Tho tutor would be the Rev. L. G. Whitehead, M.A. The class would begin at tho University after Easter. Tho organiser expected to visit Balclutha and to reestablish the class there. It was probable that a class for firemen and others would be opened at the Eire Brigade Station, and an endeavor was being made to organise. one for returned soldiers at the headquarters in Moray place. Steps had been taken also in regard to the formation of a class at Oama.ru, to which town a visit would be paid on the 23rd. inst.— Report received. It was unanimously resolved that the University Council bo recommended to appoint Mr John Johnson, M.A., as tutororganiser for a term of three years at a, salary of £350 per annum. It "was resolved that tho University Council bo recommended to reappoint Archdeacon Woodtliorpe as tutor to tho Anderson Bay class, and the Rov. C. B. Jordan as tutor to the Kaitangata class. It was resolved_ that Mr M’Crackcn resume the tutorship of the classes at dt. Clair, the engine sheds. Green Island, Mosaic!, and Milton, and that he take the Balclutha class also should it he re-esta-lished ; .shortened courses of lectures to bo delivered in these places, as requested. In regard to the class at tho University, it was decided that further consideration be postponed until after the meeting of the University Council
