THE COURT’S AWARD

CHRISTCHURCH, February 25,
Tho Arbitration Court has issued an a,ward in connection with the Auckland journalists’ dispute. Tho memorandum says:—The court has made .several alterations in the provisions of the former award. The principal changes arc an increase of 5s a week for general reporters, and substantial increases for readers, who will now receive “ the wages and conditions provided for linotype operators in the typographical award.” The grading of renders has been abolished, but provisions are made for “a reviser” at £3 8s per week. The wages of readers will he:—First reader £6 3s (day), £6 13s (night): others £5 13s and £3 3s. Readers' will also receive an additional lOs for work on Saturday night editions. These rates are inclusive of ail bonuses. The award will come into operation on March 6.
