POLICE PROMOTIONS

Consequent on the retirement of Commissioner O’Donovan from the Police Force at the end of December the following promotions and transfers arc made : Superintendent Wright (Auckland) has been promoted to commissioner, and takes up his duties on January 1, 1922. Superintendent Hendry (Christchurch) succeeds Superintendent Wright at Auckland. Inspector Sheehan (Hamilton) haa been promoted to superintendent, and succeeds Superintendent Hendry at Christchurch. Inspector Wohlman (Commissioner of Police at Samoa) succeeds Inspector Sheehan at Hamilton. Superintendent Cruickshank succeeds Inspector Wohlman as Commissioner of Police at Samoa. Sub-inspector Willis (Dunedin) has been promoted to inspector, and succeeds Inspector Elastic (retired) at Timm u._ Senior-sergeant Eecles (Invercargill) has boon promoted sub-inspector, and succeeds Sub-inspector Willis at Dunedin, Sergeant Scandrelt (South Dunedin) has been promoted senior-rergeant, and .succeeds Senior-sergeant Eccles at Invercargill. Senior-sergeant Kelly (Christchurch) has been transferred to Wellington. Senior-sergeant Lowin (Dunedin) is transferred to Christchurch in place of Scnioreorgeant Kelly. Sergeant Mati'eson (Gore) has been promoted to seijior-sergeant, and succeeds Senior-sergeant Lewin in Dunedin. Sergeant Boulton (Dunedin) has been transferred to Goro in place of fcergeant Mathicson. Sergeant Murray (Dunedin) succeeds Sergeant Scandrett at South Dunedin ; ,Sergeant O’Hara (Wellington) has been promoted senior-sergeant in charge at Taranaki Street Station, Wellington ; Sorgemit Lopd’ell (To Kuiti), promoted to seniorsergeant, succeeds Senior-sergeant Bourkc (retired) nt Wanganui ; Sergeant Pornley (Auckland) succeeds Sergeant landed at To Kuiti; Sergeant Dempsey (Auckland) has been transferred to Gisborne.
