In exorcise of tbo powers vested in me by the Animals’ Protection Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, GovernorGeneral of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following Regulations prescribing the conditions uidor which cortain Rod Deer may be destroyed in the Otago Acclimatisation District: REGULATIONS. 1. Notwithstanding anything contained in tbo Regulations made under the Animals’ Protection Act, 1908, the Secretary of the Otago Acclimatisation Society at Dunedin, or any person or persons duly authorised in writing by such Secretary, may, during the period hereinafter mentioned, kill Red Deer of either sex and of any ago which, in the opinion of tho said'Secretary or of the said authorised persons, should bo destroyed either by reason of age, deformity, or other physical imperfection. 2. Such Deer may bo destroyed as aforesaid from tho 2nd day of JANUARY, 1922, to the 31st day of DECEMBER, 1922. 3. A return shall bo furnished to the Minister of Internal Affairs by -ho said Secretary within ono calendar month after the expiry of tho aforesaid period, and such return shall state tbo number ~nd sexes of all Red Doer to destroyed as aforesaid, the dates, and namo of person by whom and tho locality in which tho Doer were destroyed. 4. The said Secretary may, with the authority of tho said Society, authorise the sale, either by auction or otherwise, during tho currency of these Regulations, of . Deer destroyed pursuant to these Regulations, and of tho meat and skins of such Deer; provided that tho proceeds derived from such sale shall bo devoted * > patriotic pur; poses. 5. Tho said Secretary shall, on or before tho 31at day of January, 1923, furnish a statement of tho moneys received from such sale and of tho patriotic purposes or purpose to which they wero devoted. 6. Any person who commits a breach of any of the provisions of these Regulations shall bo liablo to a penally not exceeding £2O.
